Organisers advise moderate dressing, makeup at Moji Olaiya’s funeral

Late Nollywood actress Moji Olaiya, whose remains is expected to arrive from Canada today will be laid to rest at the Ebony Vault, Ikoyi Cemetery, Lagos, tomorrow, Wednesday, June 7.

In a statement by the burial committee, a memorial service has also been scheduled to hold today at the Blueroof, LTV 8, Agidingbi, Ikeja, later today, while a brief lying in state will precede the interment tomorrow.

The statement, signed by the committee’s Publicity Secretary, Yomi Fabiyi, also revealed that the baby girl delivered of the deceased two months before her demise is also being expected by the family.

Dress code for the burial rites, according to the committee should be moderately sewed black.

“In other to have a befitting, decent and general outlook, let us try as much as possible to keep our attire uniform; simple black and corporate as possible. Moderate makeup is expected. We shall be providing maximum security and ushering. The atmosphere will be conducive.”

In consideration for the Yoruba tradition of having only juniors attend burial ceremonies, the committee urged older colleagues to nonetheless, partake in some aspects of the rites; “Age has nothing to do with tribute, memorial service or artiste night for any colleague no matter the age,” the statement reads. “The Committee expects all colleagues who are available to attend in other to pay late Moji Olaiya the last respect, death is a debt we all owe. No moral, social or traditional consequence if older colleagues attend. We will all live long by His grace. Please do not discourage anyone.”

According to Fabiyi, the committee is working hard to ensuring a befitting programme, befitting of the status of the deceased and the film industry. He appealed to producers, directors and production managers currently on film locations to excuse their cast and crew members who want to be part of the ceremony.
